Elephant in the Room Productions was founded in January 2017 by opera singer Jamie Moffatt and since then has been artist led in everything we do. We value our independence from the traditional constraints of the arts industry. Our only stakeholders are ourselves and our audiences and that gives us the freedom to be bold and challenging while never losing sight of the fact that our job is to entertain you.
We value where we came from and never pass up an opportunity to put Adelaide first, whether that’s through employing local artists or making sure tours make their way to our state, by setting shows in Adelaide to give them local flavour, or by giving Adelaide first bite of the cherry when it comes to premieres. We’re high quality, we’re confronting, we’re entertaining, we’re surprising, we’re local. We are the Elephant in the Room.

Since our founding Elephant in the Room Productions has prided itself on the variety of shows we have been able to present. In our 5 year history we have toured vocal jazz and acapella groups from South Australia, Victoria, and Canada. We presented the New York-based experimental music duo panSonus during their tour of Australia in 2019. We also developed an entirely original comedy panel show for the Adelaide Fringe. We’ve presented award winning folk singers and cabaret artists, formed new ensembles and helped bring existing ones here to Adelaide.
We’ve presented full-scale grand opera and musical theatre productions to audiences of thousands, and small intimate album launches. We’ve performed on heritage ships, in flour sheds and museums. We’ve staged shows in traditional theatres and in ones we’ve created ourselves outdoors. We’ve partnered with iconic tourist destinations and struck out on our own. We present shows as varied and diverse as the audiences we attract and the artists we employ. Whatever you want to see, the elephant is in the room!
